Supplementary Assessment

The first thing I did after receiving the information on what was involved with this assessment was go to the QUT library to research all of the architects on the list provided which included:

• Norman Foster
• Steven Holl
• Toyo Ito
• Morphosis
• Jean Nouvel
• OMA
• Renzo Piano
• Richard Rogers
• Peter Zumthor

I then flicked through all of the books I could find on these architects to find which ones could inspire me the most. I was looking for the ones who used color, context, tone, composition in interesting and effective ways.The architects I chose were:

• Morphosis 
• Norman Foster
• Steven Holl
• Jean Nouvel
• Renzo Piano

Then I researched each architect online to find further information on their drawing styles specifically relating to sections. I had discovered many interesting sections from each architect through my searching in the library. I noted the project of each section then researched the finished building and I  investigated the relationship between drawing and finished product. This will help me to decide on my approach when trying to portray my ideas through section for my own project.

Week 15 - Presentation

Today was presentation day and i was not very well prepared in terms of my drawings. They were of sub standard and i was quite embarrassed by them. however considering the circumstances i am proud of what i managed to do in such a short time period. looking back on this semester i have learnt a lot of lessons

Week 14 - Progress

Here are some shots of my model development. I am quite satisfied with this component of my design however i am not left with much time now to produce the drawings and as such i think they will suffer greatly.

Week 13 disaster

I have been working on a revit file for the past 2 weeks, however 3 days ago i lost the file and was not able to retrieve it. I had invested a lot of time into doing so. this has been the first year i was planning on making a digital submission as in previous years i usually hand draw and make models of all my designs. this has taken a huge toll on my expected outcomes i am now under a lot of pressure to produce something in a short period of time.

Week 11 - Public and private/ navigation

Navigation through the spaces is crucial to how one experiences design and the image below id my attempt at creating a cohesive environment for people to travel in and around the site. The main mode of transport will be walking, thus it is important to locate elements close together for convenience. I have somewhat ditched the tree house idea due to the comments i was given by my tutor, however i did feel strongly about the importance of being able to be in a place of solitude and among nature. so i decided that there will be pathways leading off the residential area up the hill side to little platforms elevated in the trees where people can retreat and contemplate, perform yoga, meditate, write etc.The views down onto the valley from here will also put things in perspective for them and hopefully instill a feeling of comfort and ease.

Week 11 - Development

The next step in my design process is to combine my adjacency diagram with my site knowledge and this is these images show the development of that. during this process i really began to be able to imagine my facility in this location in an effective way. this was done at a scale of 1:500 and then broken into smaller sections of 1:200. doing this at a large scale was important for me to envisage the built form at a human scale.
